The Tax Collection Department Branch is responsible for administering and managing forestry-related tax collection in accordance with the prescribed rates and regulations. The Branch collects taxes systematically and maintains proper financial records to ensure transparency, accountability, and effective financial management.
The Branch issues and maintains official receipts and license books for the systematic recording of tax payments and related transactions. All taxes collected are properly documented and deposited into the relevant treasuries of the KNU, together with the necessary financial records and supporting documentation.
The Branch also reviews the appropriateness of existing forestry tax rates in relation to changing circumstances. Where existing rates are considered no longer appropriate or applicable, the Branch reports its findings and recommendations to the relevant higher authorities for consideration and further action.
The Tax Collection Department Branch operates only at the district and township levels. There is no Tax Collection Department Branch at the central level of the Kawthoolei Forestry Department (KFD). Tax collection and related administrative responsibilities are therefore carried out primarily through the district and township-level branches.
